This September marks our 21st consecutive month of offering free ultrasound screenings in Hong Kong, without a single month's gap since this programme began. What started as a handful of appointments has grown into a standing commitment: no one in Hong Kong should have to choose between affording a scan and catching something early. Every screening we deliver is proof that preventive healthcare doesn't have to wait for a referral, a diagnosis, or a few thousand dollars you don't have spare.

When: All month long — dates up to 15 September are currently open for booking, with the next batch added closer to mid-month

What to expect

• Each check-up takes approximately 10 minutes
• Results shared verbally on the day by our registered sonographer
• Written reports available on request for HKD 350, charged directly by SonoExpress

How to prepare

• Breast, thyroid and testicular screenings: no preparation needed
• Lower abdomen (pelvis) and prostate screenings: full bladder — drink water and avoid urinating for 1 hour before your appointment, no fasting required
• Upper abdomen (liver & gallbladder) screenings: fast for 4 hours before your appointment — no food or drink except water

Important policies

• Each person is entitled to a maximum of 2 free ultrasound screenings through this programme
• Additional screening types beyond your first 2 can be arranged directly with SonoExpress at 50% off their standard rate — see our resources page for details

• All examinations are conducted by registered sonographers

About Phenomenally Group: We started on a rugby pitch in Hong Kong in 2019 by a group of friends who wanted to tackle cancer, and protect more people and lives from it, due to a personal loss. Why "Protect Your Ball"? In Cantonese, 波 (bo1) colloquially refers to breasts. In English, "ball" is a nod to testicular health. And of course, the ball is what brings us all together on the field. Three meanings, one tagline — one simple message: get checked.
